Thorold Arms - April Update
The sun is shining, the cherry blossom is out and it's time for another progress update on how work is going on The Thorold Arms.
First things first, we have now secured a tenant, Mark Butler (top right in the photo below) to run the pub. We are so pleased to have Mark onboard and he's already been busy helping out with the work on the pub.
After a few (frustrating!) delays, we have now contracted a builder and expect the main work to begin before the end of this month. We had planned to replace all of the windows in the pub with uPVC but as we are in a conservation area and are listed as a historic building we are unfortunately unable to do this and so are currently gathering quotes for timber windows.
As we now have a clear list of work that the main builder will be undertaking, we've been able to identify what work can be done by ourselves to reduce costs. James Mackereth has been organising volunteers who have been helping over the past week. Good progress has been made but there is still a lot of work to be done before the end of April - the priorities are removing the last of the wallpaper, and sanding down wood work in the bars.
Our next 'work parties' are listed below - if you have time available and can help, please email James at firstname.lastname@example.org. It really is appreciated.
